what do i do when my ex-employer is holding my travel arrangements?

I was dismissed as a travel agents last week with no warning and I have made all my wedding arrangements through the office. I am trying to get my details back (inc emails to my wedding planner) and my previous boss is going to charge me $100 per person each time i ask for information? Can they do this as it is my information in the first place???

Yes. If your information is on company computer. That means you were on company time it is now company Business. I am guessing you were fired for using company assets for personal benefit
ie. theft. This sounds harsh but when you get right down you stole time and use of equipment from them. So start again with your own equipment or pay.

how to find cheap flights and travel deals?

i search some popular sites sometimes, like expedia and travelocity, but I feel like I’m always getting a sucker price. I always hear of people getting international flights for like $500-600, when the price I always see is well over $1k.

How do you find the best travel deals?

Here are my tips for finding flights:

The first thing is timing. If you buy too early, you’ll pay too much. However, if you wait too long, you’ll also pay too much. I’ve been on both sides of this, myself. I’ve bought too early and also bought too late.

Start looking at flights around 6 months before you want to travel. That will give you an idea of what a typical flight costs. Around 3 months before your trip, start checking daily. If you see the price go below the normal price you saw earlier, buy the tickets.

Something to note is the cost of checking in bags. Some airlines can charge up to $50 per bag per flight. That means up to $100 round trip. Certain airlines allow you to check in bags for free. Southwest Airlines currently allows passengers to check in two bags free of charge. JetBlue currently allows passengers to check in one bag free of charge.

I always start with Kayak ( http://www.kayak.com ). It’s a search website that checks various other websites, such as Orbitz and CheapTickets. It will list all of the airlines that fly the route you want, with the exception of some discount airlines (most notably Southwest). My typical process when looking for a flight is the following:

1. I look on Kayak to see what airlines fly the route I want, and which airlines are reasonably priced. I write down the top 3 or 4 airlines.

2. I check the airline websites from my Kayak search. For example, if the cheapest airline Kayak gave me was Continental, I’d go on the Continental website to see the fare.

3. I take a look at the discount airlines that fly that route and compare their price. I’d be sure to check Southwest’s prices ( http://www.southwest.com ), as their fares don’t show up on Kayak. I’d also check Direct Air’s prices ( http://www.visitdirectair.com ), but their flight options are limited.

4. Keep an eye on the flight prices until I see them go down, or unless they seem low enough already.

I have never seen a ticket be cheaper on a search website than on the airline’s website. The advantage to using a search website like Orbitz/Travelocity/Priceline/Expedia is that you can combine airlines to give you the most convenient itinerary possible. However, this will cost you more, too. I’ve only purchased from Orbitz once, and that was because I waited until the last minute to buy an international flight during Christmas. Needless to say, I paid quite a bit and didn’t have very many options.

Good luck.

Can an international student travel outside of USA immediately after graduation, and then come back to USA?

I am an international student in USA. I need to travel outside of USA immediately after graduation. I hope to be back in one month, and then apply for OPT (Optional Practical Training). Is there any problem during re-entry? I have travel signature on my I-20, and the signature is valid for next one year.

you cant do re entry as you think. It involves many formalities. If you want to apply for opt you should apply before going out of the country

how do I travel from casa hotel to madame tussauds wax museum in hong kong?

I need a trip planner so that i can really experience hong kong? thank you. icon smile how do I travel from casa hotel to madame tussauds wax museum in hong kong?

Is Casa Hotel in Hong Kong side or Kowloon side? If Hong Kong side, the cheapest way to get up to the Peak to visit the wax museum is to take the No.15 bus at the Central Bus Terminal clsoe by the Central Pier. If the hotel is in Kowloon side, the cheapest way to get to Central is to cross Victoria Harbor by the Star Ferry situated in the tip of Tsimshatsui.

Does airmail travel on Commercial airlines?

I’ve always wondered if regular mail bound for overseas travels on airlines like Delta and American, or does the post office have special airplanes for the mail?

It would depend on the country it is sent from and to. In the UK we use standard passengers flights (the mail goes in the hold with the luggage), commercial freight flights run by private companies and some in house Royal Mail planes. A number of international freight companies such as DHL and TNT have their own planes.

Most BFPO (British Forces Post Office) mail flies by the next available military flight after food, armour and weapons has been loaded, although if it is going to Germany* or the US I think it flies with the rest of the post.

*Britain stationed large numbers of troops in West Germany to repel a possible soviet invasion during the Cold War. We still have alot of troops there.

Cheap travel advise for taiwan. Can anyone help?

I want to travel to Taiwan in October. What have you paid, or expect to pay, to make this trip (london to Taoyuan)?

Also, whats the best place to get cheap flights arranged?

sidestep.com is the best (flexible date options). For a flight in april, it was like 800 usd, but for Oct 7-14, its 1100. not bad, but not great. play around with the dates.
